"The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo"

So, I finally finished this book. Since becoming a stay at home I figured that I would have more time to read but it is the opposite. I have less time. So, here is my first book review.

1.Why do you think Blomkvist decided not to publish the truth about Martin Vanger? Do you think he did the right thing?

~ I am not sure if it was the right thing to do or not. I believe he didn't publish it because he had already made a promise to Harriet that he wouldn't do anything that would cause her anymore harm and he is a man of his word. With Martin being dead, I don't think there was a big enough reason to expose Martin of what he did. If Martin was still alive then that would have been a whole new story.

2.What did you make of the final scene of the book, where Salander saw Blomkvist with Erica Berger? Had you hoped that Salander and Blomkvist would stay together?

~ The last scene broke my heart. I had hoped that Salander and Blomkvist would become a couple.  I felt really bad for Salander.

3.In Swedish, the title was Men who Hate Women, but it was changed to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo when it was translated to English. Which do you think is a more fitting title?

~ They both fit the book fairly well. The Swedish title doesn't show up in the book until later but the English title shows fairly early. Both titles are big parts of the book and either one would be good at the title for the book.

4.Why do you think Nazism was such an undercurrent in the Vanger family?

~I don't think the Vanger family in whole support the Nazis. Showing the Nazi traits in the one family member helped show just how deranged he was.

5. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5. It was a good book but the first chapter was hard to get through.

Happy Birthday to ME!

So, Friday was my 27th birthday. Yay! I suppose. I was happy that I didn't gain this week on my weigh in. I didn't loose either but just stayed the exact same weight. That is ok. Hopefully I will loose again this week. My youngest one woke up this morning with a fever so I didn't get to the gym. Boo.

WOOT!

I lost 2 pounds this week. 38.2 pounds gone and have dropped my BMI by 7.2 points. YAY!

Now onto my oldest belt ceremony for karate and to Frankie's Fun Park to help celebrate his belt and my weight loss! Today is going to be a busy but wonderful day!

Weigh In 10-23-10

I was expecting to gain this week considering I pigged out last night but thankfully I didn't. I lost .6 for a total of 36.2 pounds gone for good. I have to get busy working out again so I will loose more than a pound a week. I am happy with any lose but I would love for it to be 1 to 2 pounds each week.

My oldest had his karate test today. I kind of thought it was early for them to be testing since they just opened up the new studio and the place they were at last didn't have that much room for them to practice like they needed to. I will find out later this week if he got his next belt or not. I am confident he did even though I forgot his sparring gear at home. I am such a bad mommy, not really. We are all allowed to make mistakes occasionally.

Date Night

So, tonight my husband and I went on a date to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. Well, it is 2 years since we got married but we have been together for 4 years. We went to see Jackass 3D and went out to eat at Tsunami's, a very good sushi place. I wasn't suppose to know about where we were going out to eat because he wanted to surprise me. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law was telling my parents about it in front of my 6 year old and like most kids his age, he can't keep a secret. I still enjoyed it and loved spending time with my hubby.

The movie was very funny. Just like the first two, they did a lot of gross and mean shit to each other and made me laugh. The 3D part of it was really good too.

All in all, tonight was a great night. I may be gaining this week because of how much I ate tonight but I don't care. It was well worth it. But it will be back to the gym tomorrow to loose the rest of this weight!

First book.

So, I have started the first book for my book review. It is The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo. I have been told that it is a slow starting book but that it will get better the further I get into it. Hopefully it won't take me too long to finish.

Anniversary

Today is our 2nd wedding anniversary. I can't imagine my life without my husband and boys in it. I am so thankful for them and love them with all my heart. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us!

Boo at the Zoo and Weigh In.

So, I tried to post this the other day and for some reason it didn't post.

So, yesterday my husband and I, along with my parents and his mom, took our boys to Boo At The Zoo at Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC. We started this tradition last year and we plan on doing it every year because both of them love it. We also take them to The Lights Before Christmas but that is an event for just the four of us.

John, 6, is a blue ninja and Brayden, 1, is a white tiger. Brayden wouldn't keep his hat on so everyone thought he was a zebra and one person even said lion. They were so cute. We still have Trunk or Treat at the church to do and then actual Halloween trick or treating. They are going to rack up on some candy this year.

I had my weigh in this morning. I lost .4 this week. Not bad because I only walked 5 miles this week because I have been having trouble with my blood sugar. It will be back to the track on Monday for me.

Iron Man 2

On Friday's we usually go to my mother-in-law's for supper and to watch a movie. The past few weeks we haven't been able to stay the whole time because of Brayden being sick or just plain fussy. This week he was really good and we were able to stay the whole time.

We decided to watch Iron Man 2. I loved it. I am not a big movie reviewer so I won't go into details but it was a great movie. I recommend everyone to watch it. With that being said, I can't wait for November 15th to get here so I can go see the first Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!

Saturday weigh in and measurement day

So, yesterday I had my weigh in and I lost 2 pounds for a total of 35.2 pounds gone! WOOT! This morning my husband and I took my measurements and I lost another 2.5 inches that is a total of 9.5 inches gone that I know of. I didn't start taking my measurements until August and I have been doing Weight Watchers since April. I wish I would have been doing my measurements since the beginning but better late than never right?

Yesterday was also a GREAT day. I am a huge Carolina Gamecock fan and I couldn't be happier about them beating Number 1 Alabama. That was an awesome game. The Gamecock's played an awesome game and deserve that win. Now on to beat Kentucky this weekend!

More about me.

Hi, I am Katherine Antley. You can just call me Kathy. I am 26 years old until November 5th. I live in South Carolina and have for most of my life. I am married to Michael Antley. October 18th will be two years since we got married. I have one son, John, from a previous relationship and he is six years old. He is in the first grade and absolutely loves school. He also takes karate and a class called Bully Busters that helps teach kids how to defend themselves against bullies without punching or hurting the other person. Mike and I also have a one year old together. Brayden is a typical little boy. He is full of energy, just like his bigger brother, and loves exploring new things. I truly love being a wife and a mother.

Since Brayden was born, I have been a stay at home mom. Some days it gets a little boring but most of the time I am too busy with taking care of my boys to get bored. I started Weight Watchers in April of 2010 because I realized it was way past time to get in shape and become healthy for myself and my family. I have since lost 33.2 pounds. I still have a good bit to go but I am confident that I can do it.

I have started several blogs but they were just consisting of my weight loss progress. I have since decided to make a blog about my family and talk about them while I also talk about my weight loss. I am hoping to start a weekly book review. Hopefully that will be started up by the first of November.

I love reading, watching movies, playing games, spending lots of time with my husband and kids, and just being me. I am on a journey to becoming healthier and not just physically. I want to get to a healthier emotional and psychological state. It will take time but I am making progress.

Well, that is all I have to write about for now. I am sure I will find more stuff to write about soon.
